Can the Christian celebrate Halloween?

This was taken off another site
The answer is simple: Yes and No. Let’s look at the negative first. The Christian is not to be involved with or support the occult, witchcraft, demonism, or any other thing that uplifts the occult. To do so is to contradict God’s word, dabble in demonic spirits, and invite judgment from God. If a Halloween celebration is centered on demons, devils, spirits, etc., I would say don't have anything to do with it. On the other hand, it isn't wrong to dress up in a costume and go door-to-door saying 'Trick or Treat." Provided that the costume isn't demonic, I can't see anything wrong with this. It's just fun for the kids. Take a look at the Christmas tree. It was originally an ancient fertility symbol. Yet, it has become a representation of Christmas and the place where gifts are placed. Are the Christians, then, paying homage to an ancient pagan fertility god? No. Not at all. They do not consider it pagan at all and are simply joining in on a cultural event and giving no honor to anything unbiblical.

My thoughts: why celebrate this "holiday" at all. I mean this seems to be a night that lasts for about 2 or 3 hours then it is over. I can find better things to do with my time than collect candy and other junk.

Dominican Republic Mission's Trip: Update

Even our Founding Fathers took time out to listen to some tunes in between battles for our freedom. I found this picture on the net and thought it was pretty funny.

I am listening to the news and I am hearing that 20 are dead, 20 are missing in the Dominican Republic from the tropical storm that is slamming the island with over 20 inches of water. Mud slides and severe flooding are still on the rise. I am hoping that our crew can go down and help out with any disaster relief if needed. I was concerned that our flights might be delayed or cancelled if the rains are heavy. Plane flights could be backed up for days or even weeks if the airport is closed, I have noticed that there are always flights cancelled during hurricane season. I plan on calling today and checking with Pastor Jose and see how things are holding up. I feel helpless here....get me working and keep my mind busy.

Can someone help me understand this? I do not do the food shopping in my family, but I am aware that some food products have "box tops" points that can be saved up and given to schools for discounted items, or used for money drives and incentives. I thought I knew that info. News Flash!....I am in the bathroom and I notice my wife box of Kotex on the floor and I notice that they have "box tops" available. I break out laughing and my wife asks me what is so funny. I bring out the box and show her....since when did women's products contain points. That is so funny....so is Coke Rewards going to get into putting points on shaving cream or condom boxes. I couldn't believe my eyes. How ironic!

Red Sox Celebrate as World Champions in 2007

I have to admit, even know the Sox swept the Rockies...I was worried that there was enough room for a comeback. I knew the Rockies are a young and talented team (similar to the Sox). The rookies this year are outstanding, we had major support from Jacoby Ellsbury, Jon Lester, Dice-K, Dustin Pedoria, Clay Bucholtz. This team will be a contender for years to come. Now I can get some sleep and start reading again.

This past weekend went by faster than I anticipated. Saturday, I went to the local Goodwill and was looking for some books and any clothes that I might need for the mission's trip that is only weeks away. I heard that the Dominican Republic is expected to get over 10 inches of rain within the next few days. This will flood out streets for days...I remember we had hard steady rain for a hour that made all the streets look like canals, and lakes. Hours later, the water was evaporated and gone. The humidity is hard to work in, but if you make work into "fun things" the days go by faster. By the end of the week you are drained and ready to go back to life in the states. Back to my weekend.....we had lots of rain and I was stuck inside all day. Sunday, my son had homework and projects to work on. I have missed several weeks of church (wife has a bad back) and she cannot sit for long periods of time. Please pray for her and help the recovery process.

My head will eventually explode!

This photo was taken this morning at work. There is a guy at work that has a side photography business. He was messing around with his lenses and he thought it would be a funny photo. I was game and thought it would be interesting to see my head squished.

Red Sox overcome another hurdle

from the net: Boston Red Sox pitcher Jonathan Papelbon pours beer on the American League Championship trophy early Monday morning, Oct. 22, 2007, at Fenway Park in Boston. The Red Sox beat the Cleveland Indians, 11-2 in Game 7 of the American League Championship baseball series to advance to the World Series.

My Logic: I have been a lifetime Red Sox fan, I understand how important sports can be to a New Englander in the fall. I did watch part of the game (until 10pm, which was around the 4th inning) before I had to go to bed and get up at 4:30 am and get ready for work. I did manage to wake up at 1am and check the box score on the net (so I could sleep in peace). I posted this picture because I think it is ironic that a multi-million dollar athlete is pouring cheap beer onto the trophy. Usually, we see rappers drinking top quality champagne and top dollar drinks. Here we see canned crappy beer. Maybe I am spoiled and have a few Bass ale's, or a Sam Adams. I really think if your gonna have a few "brewskies" you should have real beer.....heck, get out your imports from Germany and have a real one. Just don't waste you calories or watered canned beer. That is just my spin on a successful season as a Sox fan. G O S O X !

Welcome to my logic?

Welcome to the re-return of my blogger debut (kind of) . I have made a few tweeks to my blog and now I am figuring out how to enhance this site and make this fun.

What is logic: the definition states - a particular method of reasoning or argumentation.

also: convincing forcefulness; inexorable truth of persuasiveness.

What is the Lombardo Logic? Sometimes I give quite bad advice. And the reason is that not everything applies to everyone. One of the bigger flaws in the advice that I give is that I am quite ambitious. The advice, views, thoughts and grammar might be off...sometimes way off. I encourage you visit my blog daily. I plan to share my photo's, experiences, observations and everyday life events. I am an honest person and I do not hold back with anything. I might be reserve with comments that hurt...but if something is true and you can grow from it, it is worth saying. Stay turned!
